I recognize and understand that a mixed martial arts is so far off base from game design that it really doesn't make sense. However, I had no outlet that worked before this.
The people that know me realize that I have always had an infatuation with video games, but I had no other outlet that helped me at that time.
I got sucked into games due to a shitty childhood. I didn't want the family I had, I wanted more.
A random day in the Marine Corps. changed all that for me. A buddy had mentioned something about cage fighting. This was around 2008-2009. I initially thought this was barbaric, but later agreed and went on my own.
Respectable mixed martial artists are idols in a way. They showcase this ego that is so relatable, but can turn on the aggression if needed. When around a decent guy and fighter, you don't realize you are around a fighter. They are so down to earth it's ridiculous.
Later in my mma training I understood. The best mixed martial artists has almost no grudge. They sometimes don't even recognize themselves as being that great...
The best mixed martial artists are not in it to beat people up, they are in it to learn as much as they can and pass on as much knowledge as possible. The heroes are the ones that are forgotten to time. They carry on the idea of a healthy and positive mma atmosphere without the ego of having people remember their names.
Maybe I am looking too far into it, but from mma, I have learned to always try
to learn and achieve more that yesterday.
Here is one of the first videos in Afghanistan I took. I wanted to focus on me getting better at a skill, not worried about maybe not seeing another day.
